Danish Pastel Whimsigoth
Hey y’all,
Welcome to my first blog. I have been working through a lot of different ways to get my audience the content they need. I tried a paid membership service, a $1 download for links, a spreadsheet of all my product recs – and at the end of the day, I just decided to give them to you in a blog. So welcome! ✨
This will be a space where I give some tips and tricks on how to achieve the aesthetics I create in my moodboards, where to purchase the products I include, and how to work with me if you can use additional help decorating your home! So let’s get to it. 🌿
Danish Pastel Whimsigoth
I’m not going to go tooooo in depth on this one because I made a ten-minute long TikTok about it, but I’ll give you the basics. Let’s talk about our two vibes:
Danish Pastel
Danish Pastel is all about curvy, blobby shapes and pastel colors, usually against a neutral background. I always include a checkerboard in my Danish Pastel spaces. 🌸
Whimsigoth
Opposite end of the spectrum! Whimsigoth is all about the cross section between hippie and witchy. We love jewel tones, velvets and laces, and celestial, gothy decor. 🌙
So how do we mix these two with seemingly opposite color palettes? Here are the rules I found worked for me! 🖌️
Tips
Work against a neutral balance with pops of color (there’s our Danish pastel side!), but the pops of color may be deeper colors than pastels (Whimsigoth side!)
Utilize Danish Pastel shapes (curves, waves and blobs) in your furniture
Use Whimsigoth vibes on your soft stuff: blankets, pillows, curtains, bedding, etc.
Incorporate lacy, gauzy canopies and hanging fabrics to bring in the hippie vibes
Celestial, witchy decor and patchwork for Whimisgoth energy
Colors
I like to use a good amount of neutrals, and when I do want to do pops of color (big part of Danish Pastel), using slightly deeper versions of pastel colors. Here is a basic palette for you to start with.
Work with me!
If you can’t wrap your brain around this combo (and this one actually took me a bit to work out the formula on!), I work with clients in a variety of ways! I offer a sixty minute virtual consultation if you just want to pick my brain a little, a full month design service if you are ready to fully makeover a space and get it decorated within a month, or a custom moodboard if you want me to create a specific visual direction just for you! Feel free to reach out if any of these services could assist you in your home decorating journey! ✨
